Eye Candy

My family and I drove to Connecticut from FL for a vacation last December. While we were there we went poking around the Goodwill Outlet store and found this wooden chair for only $0.99 (that's the price of a candy bar!!) I couldn't pass it up (along with some very vintage luggage), so our souvenir from our trip was this chair. And it sat in my craft room for 4 long months before I even looked in its direction. Until today.

I had this cushion laying around and I wanted this chair to have something softer for the landing so I decided to make a cover for it and I knew I wanted it to be a chevron pattern because I'm a chevron virgin!!

I made a quick stop to Hobby Lobby for the chevron fabric. The sales lady told me that is was a brand new bolt they had received yesterday. I was practically gushing over the fabric. She also told me that my 1/2 yard was the first cut!!

I headed home with Krylon spray paint in Ocean Breeze and my new fabric. I started out spray painting the chair but that was an epic fail. The paint came out sputtering, splatting and in a very uneven pattern. After I gave it 100% attempt at making it work, I decided that I hated the color and I wanted something more muted. After digging around in my shed, I found the perfect shade in the blue family.

This is my finished almost finished product. I just need to spray a protective finish, but it started raining, so it will have to wait until tomorrow. Isn't she eye candy?

15 minute project...check!

To me there is nothing better than a project that I can start and finish in the same sitting. What I'm trying to say is, if I can't finish it within the same afternoon, you can pretty much bet it won't get finished. I know I'm not alone in this, sometimes I get Creative ADD.

With that being said, let me introduce a new series that features 1 hr (or less) projects. I don't have a name for it yet, but I'm sure I can come up with something.

Anyways, I was wasting time researching Pinterest and after seeing this Mason Jar Towel Holder project by Whitney over at Shanty 2 Chic I decided it was time for me to tackle try this project.

I didn't take pictures of the process, simply because I finished so fast that I didn't think about it. The board I used was in my stash of wood planks behind my shed and was already painted white. I bought my hooks from Ace Hardware, along with my clamp. Total cost of this project was $3.52!!!

I decided to hang this in my bathroom within easy reach from the shower. I love the "cottage" feel it has.

The Weight of the Matter

The before of this atrocity was something out of Saw 5, the movie. I've had this sitting around for almost a year and I just wasn't inspired to do anything with it. I've come close to chucking it several times, but I couldn't bring myself to throw out an antique scale.  Finally, after mulling over the issue and deciding that I wanted to lighten up my kitchen with whites, I took a spray can to it and gave it a total fresh new look.
